Job Title: Business Development Officer

Job Purpose
- Drive business growth and expand market presence and footprints through strategic initiatives, client relationship management, and market development activities, identify opportunities, develop partnerships, and implement strategies to enhance product sales, revenue generation, and increase market share within the locality.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, opportunities, and potential areas for growth.
- Recruitment of farmers especially rural women as Mother Units (MUs) – A Farmer who raises Noiler intensively for 5 weeks after which she will dispose of it to Small Holder Farmers (SHF) who buy in smaller quantities.
- Train potential mother units or prospects who are interested in becoming MUs, have the facility for being a MU, and have basic knowledge of brooding.
- Generate smallholder farmers with a preference for women to off-take Noiler birds from Mother Units.
- As a Noiler Business Development Officer, you are also an Extension Agent and an Enumerator to capture the information of farmers on the appropriate App.
- Organize training, rural sensitization, and film shows for mother units and smallholder farmers.
- Analyse market dynamics as they relate to Poultry Agric-business, competitive landscape, and customer needs to inform strategic decision-making and business development initiatives.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies and action plans to achieve growth objectives and expand market reach.
- Identify new business opportunities, market segments, and geographic regions for expansion based on market demands and industry insights.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients, key stakeholders, and industry partners to foster loyalty and drive repeat business.
- Proactively engage with clients to understand their evolving needs, address concerns, and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling our products.
- Generate leads through proactive outreach, networking, and participation in industry events, conferences, trade shows, etc.
- Qualify leads, follow up on inquiries, and convert prospects into clients through effective sales techniques and relationship-building strategies.
- Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to the needs and preferences of prospective clients.
- Present proposals to clients, highlighting the value proposition, unique selling points, and benefits of partnering and buying from Amo.
- Develop and execute strategies to penetrate new markets and geographic regions, leveraging industry knowledge and insights to gain a competitive advantage.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Track and analyze sales performance metrics, business development activities, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate progress and performance against targets and inform decision-making.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations for the Area Manager’s review, highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
- Manage local teams across a particular country/region.
- Monitor performance against plans and targets and take remedial action in cases of shortfalls.
- Coordinate sales and distribution activities within the country.
- Monitor and report on competitor activities within the region and report for action.
- Recruiting & appointing distributors/channels within the assigned region and creating major growth in distributor/channel sales
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics and Extension, Sociology and Rural Development, Marketing, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree is a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing roles within the poultry agricultural poultry sector.
- Experience in working and collaborating with NGOs, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
- Proven track record of success in driving business growth, generating leads, and closing deals in a competitive market environment.
- Strong understanding of poultry farming practices, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute business development strategies aligned with organizational goals.
- Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients, attend industry events, and explore business opportunities.
- Ability to communicate both in French and English.
