Job Title: Fish Farm Assistant
Location: Enugu
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
- Fish farm assistants assist the farm manager to breed and rear fish in ponds and tanks.
Job Responsibilities
- Feeding fish by hand
- Grading fish by size, moving them to bigger tanks or ponds
- Checking and maintaining water quality
- Checking fish for disease, preventing and treating infection
- Making sure hygiene standards are high, to prevent disease
- Draining and cleaning tanks, filters and nets
- Washing the ponds
- Keeping records of the numbers and sizes of fish stocked
- Assist the manager to plan breeding programs and grow schedules to obtain maximum efficiency.
- Pay close attention to detail, in order to avoid expensive fish losses
- Getting fish ready for sale, gutting them and packing them in ice for transport
- Assist in fish processing.
- Maintaining buildings and equipment, involving basic joinery, plumbing and electrical work.
- Any other work as may be assigned by the farm manager.
Expected Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Candidates should possess OND / HND / Bachelor’s Degrees with 2 – 10 years relevant work experience.
- Updated knowledge of fish health and nutrition
- Be organized, have good communication and interpersonal skill.
- Have the ability to multitask.
