Role Overview
- Under the supervision of the Program Officer, Data Management, the incumbent will oversee the management of data collection on Agriculture and Environment Statistics in ECOWAS Region.
Role and Responsibilities
- Responsible for organizing, designing, and planning of collection, evaluation, analysis, compilation, and dissemination of statistical data relevant to Agriculture and Environment.
- Work with National, Regional, and International Institutions in issues relating to Agriculture and Environment Statistics.
- Collaborate with National, Regional, and International Institutions to develop database for the monitoring and evaluation of Agriculture and Environment indicators.
- Play a leading role in the development of regional database on Agriculture and Environment indicators.
- Work with other directorates in the ECOWAS Commission on data management in Agriculture and Environment.
- Participate in Directorate activities like statistical publications and dissemination in relevant areas of regional integration like economic, trade surveillance, and monitoring of regional and international development agendas.
- Perform data quality and consistency control on statistics and contributing to statistical harmonisation on Energy and Infrastructure in the region.
- Advise ECOWAS Member States on data quality issues in relation to Agriculture and Environment data.
- Any other responsibility that may be assigned to him/her by the President of the ECOWAS Commission and his/her supervisors.
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or any related field.
- A firm grasp of statistics, socio-economic and development indicators with Agriculture and Environment issues particularly in the sub-region.
- A minimum of 3 years progressively experience in a statistical institution.
- Ability to build a partnership with other institution and deliver results that meet the community needs and long-term interests within and outside the institution.
- Ability to build, lead motivated and committed teams across functional boundaries, and utilize the talent and expertise of team members in a productive way.
- Demonstrated ability to present and win support to ideals.
- Good listener and cultural sensitivity, commitment to diversify and capacity to initiate and manage innovations or change.
- Knowledge of economic theories and their application.
- Must be computer literate.
- Policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area.
- Strategic mindset, a strong capacity to analyses action from the perspectives of stakeholders and translate strategic thinking into a compelling plan of action.
- Technical ability to undertake research, analyze data, make recommendations, and write reports.

- Proficiency in information communication technologies (ICT).
- Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.

- Identify, organize, and monitor tasks throughout to facilitate execution.
- Ability to contribute and/or lead on projects as per accepted project management standards and techniques, to co-ordinate contributions by others to set and meet deadlines.

- Ability to identify, collect and assess indicators to monitor performance and to take proactive remedial action as required.
Salary
USD67,713.70 – USD77,480.72 Annually.
