We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Agric Technical Officer
Location: Benin City, Edo
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
- Provide complex technical support and advise on aspects of agriculture such as research, production, servicing and marketing
- Provide ready samples for analysis, following appropriate procedures to ensure that they are stored, prepared, and disposed of properly.
- Implement and oversee efficient oil palm cultivation practices, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance and support to plantation workers on various tasks, including planting, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.
- Monitor and assess crop health, identifying potential diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies.
- Collaborate with plantation management to plan and implement irrigation systems for optimal water management.
- Conduct soil analysis and make recommendations for soil improvement and nutrient management.
- Assist in the development and execution of crop rotation and intercropping strategies to enhance overall farm productivity.
- Mixes soil, sand, and fertilizers according to specifications; prepares insecticide solutions and operates spray equipment on assigned plots and acreage for insect control
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Extension, Agronomy, Crop Production / Protection or relevant field.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with modern agricultural technologies and tools.
- Experience with curriculum design, particularly for agricultural best practices.
- Ability to Work in remote areas of the farm and be able to work as part of a team
